He LOVES to click his tongue!! He does it at random times and seems to just enjoy the feel of his tongue clicking against the roof of his mouth. I noticed it about a week ago when we were sitting watching a movie on the computer and I heard a clicking noise. I soon realized it was Michael and we sat and clicked at each other for about 15 minutes! Good times doing absolutely nothing and enjoying it.
I taught Michael today the concept of blowing kisses. I did it because he was being clingy after I tucked him into bed for his nap and I was looking for a fun distraction so I could get away. I thought of blowing him a kiss and he LOVED it!! And it worked! I was able to leave him in his bed and walk away and he slept for almost two hours! HEAVEN!! It's so cute because now he'll do it at random times. Tonight I was wiping his hand off after eating Ice Cream and the way his hand was must have reminded him and he started blowing me kisses! He especially loves it when we act they've hit us or if we "catch" them and slap them onto our face. He's a very fun boy!
He also fully enjoys watching movies. More just listening to them as he plays, but he has to watch a movie after waking up for the day and his nap. He can put a DVD and a VHS into the players and push play. He's very independent...
He can also sing bits and pieces of songs. I've gotten him on camera doing this, but blogger has been annoying lately and I haven't succeeded at placing them on yet, but I will soon! I'm determined! He will sing the last words to the lines in "I'm a little teapot" and sometimes to "Twinkle, twinkle, little star". I've also noticed lately that if I randomly pause while singing other songs he can tell me the next word. This was a fun discovery, because I was unaware that he was even listening to the words I was saying!
His sentence lenghts are also increasing and he's able to convey quite a bit more to us now than the last few months. This has made things soo much easier! He will now us when he's hungry, says "beep, beep" when we're in his way (I'm trying to teach him "excuse me" instead, but it's not sticking), lets us know when he wants a movie and when he wants to go outside (both of those are about 10 times a day!), asks to draw, ask for specific movies he wants to watch, and a lot more I can't think of right now. Today we walked around the BYU-Idaho campus because Christmas Trees were placed in some of the buildings and he had a blast! We had told him earlier today that we were going to do it tonight, and ever since we mentioned it to him we did not stop hearing about it!! It was constant variations of "me see christmas tree" for about 2 hours.
Michael's grandparents get "called" frequently through out the day. Michael has a little cell phone that has a direct line to his grandma's and grandpa's. Michael will pick up the phone, say hello to either mama or papa, jabber for a few seconds, and then say "dye, dye". He will then look to me and say "go to papa home. Dye, dye!" and walk away. Sometimes too, when on the phone with whoever, he will just tell them he's going to their house and then walk away. Quite often "papa's home" is behind a chair or in a corner. It's really adorable.
Helping is something else that Michael is an expert at. He loves to help us clean and cook and DEMANDS the he be involved in the action. This can quite often become annoying and we try to find things to distracting, but it never works. He just wants to be with us "helping"
And last, but not least, he is becoming interested in the Potty! I'm not sure that he's actually done anything on the potty, but he sure enjoys trying! Most of the time after Nathan or I go, he must go! I think it will still be a while before he's trained. I'm not pushing it at all! If he wants to try, then he can, but I'm just not ready to deal with it. If Nathan had his way, Michael would have been potty trained about 3 months ago. But Michael is Michael, and he will do it when he's ready!
