April 2011--Easter

We celebrated Easter at home this year with just the 4 of us. It was a good weekend. We started out with Michael and I trying to make it to the 30 second long Rexburg Easter Egg hunt. That thing was RI-DIC-UL-OUS!!!!! So it started at 9:00 and Michael and I parked at 8:58. As we're walking to the field we hear the blow horn starting the race. We got into the field about 30 seconds later and there were kids and parents walking around looking dumbfounded that were no more eggs to be found. It was annoying. We heard that there was going to be an easter egg hunt a few hours later at the grocery store so I drove by the store to confirm it. As I was driving home, I saw a sign in our park advertising a different hunt. So we went home and rested from our exciting morning--that is sarcasm--and then went out to the hunts. The hunt at the park was AWESOME! Not very many people knew about it, so it wasn't crowded at all.
After that we went to the grocery store and that was CROW-DED! It was the rexburg hunt all over again. We all waited outside the aisles for the hunt to start, and when it did, there were some kids that got baskets full, and then kids like Michael that didn't get one egg! I was a bit perturbed, to say the least, and Michael was sad that he didn't get anything.Michael is on the left side of the photo wearing a dark blue shirt. He's by the girl with a red and white stripped shirt.

I was grateful when some of the employees came around with bags of eggs that weren't hidden to give to the kids like Michael.

Michael got to see the Easter Bunny there too, and that made him happy.

Then we came home and dyed some eggs. Michael was interested in the eggs for a few minutes, but then thought it was much more interesting to mix the colors on a plate. So that's what he did.

But we did have an interesting conversation about how to catch the easter bunny. I'm going to be VERY sad when he figures out the realities of the holidays. The finished productsThe next morning the boys came down to their loot!I have some videos of their easter egg hunting, and I know they're not that exciting, but I also know that my mom misses seeing our kids on the holidays, so these are for her. There are some funny parts, though, that other viewers might enjoy.

We typically stay away from the town easter egg hunts for that reason! We like to hold our own or find small ones like you!
Looks like you had fun though!
