Another Random Post

There isn't going to be any rhyme or reason to this post. These are just some videos and pictures that I got off our camera from the last few weeks.

This video is of Michael watching the video where Xander was pushed over from his sitting position. In the post I mentioned that Michael watched it like 10 times in a row. I love how Michael starts fidgeting and giggles when Xander's about to fall over. He just thinks it's the funniest thing ever!

You probably also noticed the really cool lines that were cut in his hair above the ear. Well, that wasn't planned. In fact, I'm really a bit embarrased that it's so visible in the picture. What happened was when were getting ready to cut his hair he picked up the razor and turned it on and decided that he would give himself a bit of a buzz. I looked at him just as he took it to his head. Luckily it doesn't look to bad and he didn't do a straight buzz. Otherwise we'd probably have to shave his head completely.

This next video is a cool trick that Michael learned by himself the other day. We have a bit of a backyard where we are and he loves to run and do summersaults down the hill. Here he is doing it in the hallway of our apartment.

This last video is of Xander getting solids for the first time.

We started Xander on solids on Monday, April 19. I'd been waiting until he was closer to 6 months to start on solids, but the other day I noticed that he was getting more cranky and wanting to eat more often. His sleep schedule has also been way off since we are trying to teach him not to sleep swaddled anymore and at night he'd been waking up about 2-3 times a night. Monday morning I was thinking about this and it occured to me that he may have been needing to start solids. So later that day I went out and bought some rice cereal, 3 cans each of carrots, sweet potatoes, and squash. My plan is to let him eat the canned stuff to make sure he likes it and doesn't have any allergic reactions and then we'll buy the vegies and make them here at home. Anyway, so Monday night we fed him some rice cereal and sweet potatoes and he loved it!! He didn't have any trouble taking it at all. He'd open up, leaning forward sometimes, swallow, and be ready for the spoonful. It was like he'd been doing it all along. In fact, it was a bit anti climatic. We've since given him carrots and he doesn't seem to like those as much as the sweet potatoes. He'll kinda squint after the first few bites like trying to decide if he likes it, but then he'll eat the rest no problems. AND, I'm happy to report that he's sleeping soooo much better now!!!! He'll still have issues going to bed, but after he falls asleep at night he'll only wake up ONCE at night, about 5-7 hours after his last feeding, and then he'll wake up between 6:30 and 7:30. It's wonderful!

This last picture is of a HUGE bear that's in Michael's room. It sits on his chair and is literally the same height as Michael. So anyway, I saw that bear had stickers over his mouth and I immediately started feeling quilty that we were telling Michael to be quiet too often or that he
was feeling unheard. After a few days of worrying about this I decided to just ask Michael about it. So I pointed to the bear and asked him why stickers were covering his mouth. Michael answered, "So the bear can't eat me up!" I should have known not to jump to conclusions!
