Sour Cream Painting

The other day I found an {AwEsOmE} blog! I love it and it's exactly what I feel like I've been looking for for a while. It's done by a Stay-at-Home Mom who has about 10 years experience and a degree in Early Child Education. Everyday (I think) she posts a craft that she did with her son the day before. She has such good ideas and they're all directed towards teaching him something. The blog is called No Time For Flashcards. Everyone should go over there and check it out!! It's great! Seriously!

Michael and I have already done two of the crafts she has listed. We made a traffic light and worked on his learning the colors Red, Yellow, and Green and then yesterday we did Sour Cream Painting. This was So--Much--FUN!!!!! It was supposed to be yogurt painting, but we didn't have any and he LOVES Sour cream, so we just did that. I put a spoonful of sour cream into 3 bowls and then dropped in Red, Yellow, and Green food coloring, stirred them in, and let him go to town! He LOVED it!!! He ate just as much, if not more, than he smeared all over the paper. I even joined in on some of the fun, and I was pleasantly surprised at the feel and texture--not as gross as I was worried it would be!!!

Here's a video of his fun!

And here's a picture of him painting!

Another surprise to me: The sour cream actually dried and looks a lot like real paint.

Sounds like you have been having a lot of fun lately! Thanks for telling me about that website with crafts for kids. I just wish I had it when I was a teacher. Here is another blog that I found that has several kid crafts and books that you can use. http://belladia.typepad.com/crafty_crow/
